What Do Power Ups Do?

There are four types of power ups in Trivia Crack. Each comes with its own little icon. The power up that comes with a clock icon (Extra Time) gives you 15 extra seconds to answer the question. The Bomb can eliminate two false answers, leaving you with a 50/50 chance of winning. The arrow circling back (Double Chance) can give you the opportunity to take another stab at the same question. Finally, the arrow pointing to the right (Extra Shot) lets you skip this question and go straight to the next one.

To put it simply, power ups make it easier to answer questions and win. Naturally, you can only use one power up per question. Each power up costs money (or coins). Bomb, Double Chance, and Extra Shot are not available in the Trivia Crack store. You can only buy them with coins.

How Do You Use Them?

You can use one power up per question. Since each has a different purpose, the way you use them is quite different too. Extra Shot, Bomb, and Correct Answer are all given to you as options at the bottom of the screen. Correct Answer will only be available if you have bought some and have at least one left. Double Chance will present itself after you have answered incorrectly. The rest will be available if you have enough coins in your wallet to purchase them.

Timer will show as an option once the time has run out and only if you have the coins to pay for it. If you want to use a power up, simply click on it.

How Do You Win Power Ups?

You always need to buy power ups. You don’t always have to buy them with real money though! Collect Trivia Crack coins and spend them on power ups. The easiest way to earn coins is by winning Trivia Crack games. Keep playing, winning, and proceeding to the next level. Sometimes the game offers free power ups in order to entice the players to play some more. You may even receive offers to win more power ups by email.

You can always get a second chance to answer the same question. After you answer incorrectly, you will get an opportunity to watch a promotional video. This is just another way Trivia Crack makes money by making you watch ads. You can choose to skip it and watch a shorter ad for free.

How Much Do They Cost?

Each power up has its own price in Trivia Crack. A Bomb costs 480 coins, while a Double Chance costs 240. You can get Extra Time for 320. Correct answers come in bundles and you can buy them with real money. Three right answers cost $1.99, eight right answers cost $4.99, and 180 right answers cost $99.99. Of course, you can also go for a bundle of 16, 32, or 85.

How to Buy Power Ups?

You can easily buy Right Answer power ups in the Trivia Crack store. This counts as an in-app purchase and goes straight to the card that’s connected to your account. Different bundles are priced differently, with prices ranging from $1.99 to $99.99.

Other power ups can only be purchased using Trivia Crack coins. Of course, that doesn’t mean you can’t buy them with real money. You can’t purchase the power ups directly, but you can buy coins. You can buy 130,000 coins for a price of around $100. The smallest amount of coins you can buy is 1000.

What Do They Each Do?

Extra Shot: This power up, also referred to as the arrow pointing to the right, allows you to skip to the next category or question. Use this if you got a category you know nothing about and want another chance at answering correctly.

Bomb: The bomb icon allows you to remove two wrong answers. That leaves you with two answers, one of which has to be the correct one.

Double Chance: This is the power up with the icon of an arrow going around. If the first answer you selected was incorrect, you can try your luck at the same question again. You can choose to do that by simply watching an ad or in exchange for 1000 coins, if you’re playing Trivia Crack (No Ads).

Extra Time: The timer power up gives you 15 more seconds to answer the question. This power up will only appear once your time is up and if you have enough coins to buy it.

Correct Answer: This is the most effective power up, as it simply gives you the correct answer. You only get three of these in the beginning. Once you use them up, you can collect them through playing different games like Guess & Grab, Pick-A-Prize, and Triviatopics, or purchase them in the Trivia Crack store.

Are There Free Ways to Get Power Ups?

Most power ups must be bought with Trivia Crack coins, except for Correct Answers. You can buy as many of those as you can in the store. All the other power ups (Extra Shot, Bomb, Extra Time) can be purchased with Trivia Crack coins. You can obtain Trivia Crack coins through playing games, encountering certain characters, and winning.

Double Chance is a power up that allows you to have another go at the same question. You can obtain this power up simply by watching a long promotional video. If you’re playing Trivia Crack (No Ads), you can buy it for 1000 coins.

Are They Really Worth It?

Many people only play Trivia Crack with power ups. You might have heard stories of players frequently skipping questions they don’t like or eliminating two incorrect answers. That definitely makes the game easier. If your goal is to win, why not use power ups? On the other hand, if you’re not too concerned with winning, power ups just take away the fun of the game.

Either way, spending money on power ups is often unnecessary. You can get almost all power ups for free, so why not make use of that? If you want to purchase new power ups, just keep playing and gathering coins!

Is It Ever Better Not to Use Power Ups?

Using power ups implies that you care about winning more than the actual fun of playing. If that’s the case, I don’t see why you wouldn’t use power ups! After all, they are available to you and they are virtually free most of the time. If you’re used to playing with power ups, you might notice how much easier the game can actually be. It can help you win matches against opponents and become the champion of Trivia Crack.

To answer the question, I can’t think of a single time it would be better to avoid using power ups. Perhaps you should steer clear of them if you really want to test your knowledge in a trivia quiz. Other than that, feel free to use all the tools the game has to offer.

Coins vs Power Ups

What are coins and how are they related to power ups? Well, coins are the currency you can use to purchase power ups. For example, 320 coins buys you Extra Time and a Bomb costs 480 coins. You can acquire coins through playing games. Alternatively, you can purchase them with real money.

Final Thoughts

Power ups in Trivia Crack can help you win games, and climb the local and international leaderboards. The question is, are they worth the price? If you can purchase power up with coins that you earned by playing games, you are not really losing anything. Paying real money for them, however, is quite different. Still, to each their own! If power ups significantly improve your gaming experience, I don’t see why you shouldn’t use them.
