Trivia Crack is a fan favorite when it comes to online trivia games. Whether you recently discovered the app or have been playing for a while, you’re probably here because you could benefit from some tips and tricks. After all, Trivia Crack is a competitive game where players are quite literally pinned against each other and made to compete for the final prize. Even though the final prize can only get as good as reaching a certain spot on the leaderboard, that can’t stop you from doing your best.
We have gathered some tips and tricks that will help you play and win, as well as a detailed guide on how to play Trivia Crack. Keep reading and have your phone by your side so you can practice all the moves as you go.
Getting Started
To get started, you have to download the Trivia Crack app on your mobile device and make an account. Click here to access the App Store, and here for Google Play. Download the game and make sure your device has enough storage for it to run smoothly. Keep in mind that the game can take up more storage as you continue to play and create data.
Once you’ve downloaded the game, you can open the app. You will be asked to log in or register. Many people like to register and log in through Facebook. If you have a Facebook account, this is an option for you. Trivia Crack doesn’t post on Facebook on your behalf, but it may have access to your information. On the plus side, you can use that to your advantage and invite your Facebook friends to join the Trivia Crack community and play games with you. You can challenge your friends to one-on-one competitions.
Once you’ve registered and logged in, you can pretty much get to playing straight away. You will see a bunch of pop-up ads from the game displaying their offers to you. If you’re just starting, there is really no need to purchase anything just yet. Try out the different play modes first and see where you need some help. Then you can make more informed decisions about what you want to spend your money on.
The Basics
The game begins, and you get to spin the famous Trivia Crack wheel. The wheel has six classic question categories (Entertainment, Art, Sports, History, Science, and Geography) and an extra that’s kind of like a wild card. The extra comes in the form of a crown. The wheel will land on one category that you’ll have to answer a question in. If it lands on the crown, you don’t have to answer a question at all! Instead, you can just pick a category that you’d like some help in and try to win the mascot.
The questions are multiple-choice. You will have 20 seconds to pick one of the four possible answers. If you get it right, you get one step closer to victory and you can spin the wheel again. Answer incorrectly and the turn goes to your opponent. The goal is to get all six mascots. That happens once you’ve answered a few questions in the category correctly. The first player to get all six wins the game.
When you’re about to try for a mascot, you can also attempt to steal a mascot from your opponent instead. In order to do this, you need to have a mascot of your own too. This is an excellent solution for players who are doing way worse than their opponent and need to bring them down a little bit to have a chance of winning. When you challenge your opponent, you both have to answer six questions. If you win this round, you get to take their mascot. If you lose, you lose your mascot. Your opponent doesn’t gain anything.
Other Tips
Rate Questions
You know what they say, practice makes perfect! That’s true with pub quizzes and online trivia games alike, and Trivia Crack is no exception. You can practice answering questions by rating questions in the game. If you’ve got a minute and you don’t really feel like playing, rate some questions. You might run into them later in the game! Worst-case scenario, you’ll get awesome at making educated guesses.
Spend Your Gems
You’ll notice that there is a gem count on your screen. The more gems you have—the better! You can win gems by answering questions correctly. Once you’ve got a few, you can take them to the vending machine and exchange them for some mascot cards. These cards offer exciting bonuses that can help you win games. Some simply give you more gems or coins that can be used on power-ups and new mascot cards. Others give you actual power-ups.
You can earn lives or spins. Lives are pretty self-explanatory. As you lose games, you will run out of lives. In order to play again, you’ll need to wait for your lives to replenish. Some mascots can give you additional lives. Spins work just as well, if not better. You can use a spin when the wheel lands on a category that you don’t like. A spin will make the wheel spin again and land on a different category.
Use Power-ups
This may sound like an obvious one, but, believe it or not, it took me a while to understand the importance of power-ups. The thing with power-ups is that you don’t have an unlimited amount, so you really need to use them wisely. At the same time, there is not much strategy behind it. My advice is: use power-ups on the categories that you normally struggle with.
Power-ups can be purchased with Trivia Crack coins in the game. There are several power-ups in the game. Each has its own function. Bomb, for example, removes two wrong answers from the running, so you’re left with two. Double chance lets you pick two answers that you think might be correct. If one of them is correct, you get a point. Skip allows you to skip your question altogether and answer a different one.
If you ask me, all of these power-ups are great. Everyone has their own personal preference when it comes to things like this. I find that bomb and double chance are quite similar, as they essentially give you a 50% chance of getting the question right. Skip is a bit of a risky one; you never know if the next question won’t be even worse. I recommend using it only when you’re in a very tough situation.
Answer “All of the Above”
This may sound a bit risky, but it usually works. Most of the time, if “All of the Above” is an option, it is correct. Select this answer when you’re not sure. Another way to determine whether or not that’s the correct answer is by checking the other options. If you have a suspicion that at least two potential answers are correct, it’s probably worth selecting “All of the Above.”
Challenge Your Opponent
This tip is only useful if you’re losing. It works because if you’re losing you’ve probably got nothing to lose, ironically. So, don’t hesitate to challenge your opponent. Not only can you pull yourself up, but you can also knock your opponent down. What’s the worst thing that can happen? It doesn’t work and you lose; you were going to lose anyway.
For that reason, don’t challenge your opponent when you’re winning. This move is too high risk and it might not pay off in the way that you think.
Don’t Rush
Yes, you have to rush a little bit to fit in the 20 seconds you’re given. However, don’t let that deter you from reading every question carefully. Read the answers too and don’t select your answer before you do so! You won’t believe how many times I instinctively clicked on the wrong answer before even reading the rest just because it seemed right. Don’t repeat my mistakes! 20 seconds is plenty of time to read everything that’s on the screen.
Turn Off Notifications
Turning off notifications from Trivia Crack won’t help you win more games, but it’ll certainly save your battery from draining. Trivia Crack sends so many notifications per day that it can really have an effect on your battery life. Trust me, you don’t need to know that the power ups are discounted and there is a new daily challenge. You’ll get the news next time you open the app!
Strategies
Know Your Strengths and Weaknesses
You can plan your whole game around your strengths and weaknesses. It will take some time, but you will find out which subjects are a breeze to you and which are rather difficult. Once you know this about yourself, you can strategize accordingly.
The key is to always knock out your weakest subject first. Once you land on a crown, don’t waste it on a subject that you can ace. Instead, use it towards your weakest subject. If you knock out the difficult questions right away, you can just kick back and have fun the rest of the game. Doing so also gives you more time to steal the crown from your opponent.
Spend Your Coins Wisely
Provided you don’t want to invest an absurd amount of money into an online game that doesn’t even have cash prizes, you need to be careful with your coins. You can earn some coins in the game without having to pump actual money into the game. If you’re smart about your spending, that should suffice.
The trick is to choose your power-ups wisely. My recommendation is—buy unlimited lives. Unlimited lives won’t help you win games, but they’ll enable you to play more games in a row. Yes, the price tag may seem a little steep, but it’s a one-off purchase that will last you forever. In the long-run you’ll be able to play more games, get better at Trivia Crack, and climb up that leaderboard.
Final Words
Trivia Crack follows a fairly simple gameplay. It won’t take you too long to wrap your head around the rules of the game, especially since they’re so similar to Trivial Pursuit. Soon enough you will be making winning moves without thinking twice. These tips are simply friendly guidelines and not at all strict rules. Chances are, you won’t be able to remember them all when you’re on the spot anyway.
The best tip I can give you is—practice makes perfect. Keep playing! Through playing you will discover all the ins and outs of the game, figure out which power-ups work best for you, and see what you’d rather spend your hard-earned coins and gems on. And, of course, have fun playing all the different modes!
