Rating: 5/5
The creators of What Do You Meme? are at it again! The company that’s known for making people laugh at vulgar jokes released its very own filthy trivia game. Right off the bat, it’s worth noting that I Wish I Didn’t Know is recommended for players from the age of 17. It is best played with three or more players.
The rules are very simple: one player draws a trivia card, and reads out the question and multiple choice answers. Other players try their luck at answering the question. It’s kind of a guessing game at times, because there is no way you know so many gross facts! I Wish I Didn’t Know is a great game for a mixed crowd. You can put trivia whizzes with people who never played before and you wouldn’t know who’d win!
Players rotate in drawing cards. Another benefit of this game is that you can stop whenever you want. There is no real strategy to it. The game comes with 500 trivia cards, each more disturbing than the other. The game is recommended for friend groups and parties, but you can play with your family if you’re brave!
In its essence, the game is similar to Cards Against Humanity. It’s a good laugh, dirty, and easy to play. The packaging deserves a mention, too. The cards are thick and durable, so don’t worry about spilling a little beer on them. Finally, the box will spice up your bookshelf!
If you’re really keen on playing with kids, you can go through all the cards and pull out the inappropriate ones. It’s doable and will make the game child-friendly, but it might ruin the game for you. All the crazy trivia facts make for a great conversation starter and ice-breaker.

MTV: The Throwback Music Party Game

Rating: 5/5
MTV: The Throwback Music Party Game is made for adults who love music. The game quizzes you on the biggest hits from the ’80s, ’90s, and ’00s. Its nostalgic nature calls for adult players. Younger players would simply not be familiar with the music of that era.
The game starts with a head-to-head round. Two players (one from each team) name as many song titles in one category as they can. The first round is followed by triple charade jeopardy, where the teams have 30 seconds to describe in one word, speak the lyrics, and perform songs from two famous bands for their team members to guess.
As you already figured, you have to play in teams. Collect an artist from all eight cassette categories to win the game. The categories include: Award-Winning Videos, Best of Unplugged, Pop Anthems, Headbangers, Teenage Angst, Hip Hop Hips, Queens of MTV, and Across the Pond. In these categories, you will find some newer Billboard stars, as well as vinyl favorites.
The game is easy to learn and quick to play. It is meant for a minimum of four players from the age of 13. In reality, the younger generation will probably have a difficult time playing, especially if they weren’t alive in the ’80s and ’90s. The game comes with 180 cards, a game board, and an electronic timer.
You don’t have to commit to a full game if you don’t want to. Play by your own rules with speed rounds. Because of that, the game is great for road trips, camping trips, and nights at the local pub. Take the cards with you and play on the go! If you’re not a pro on the topic of MTV music, it’s better to play with more people. Six is the optimal number of players, though four works too. The design of the packaging is very cute and retro; it will take you back to the times when MTV actually played music!

Overall, MTV: The Throwback Music Party Gameis quite easy to play. You can speed it up too, which makes it the perfect party game. Involve as many people as you can, but don’t rely on the younger generation. They will likely not have much to contribute.

Buying Guide
If you’re looking to buy a new trivia game, you are not limited in any way, shape, or form. There are so many to choose from! In fact, that might be limiting in itself, as the options are too overwhelming. In order to narrow it down, you can ask yourself a few questions.

For starters, how many people will be playing? You can choose almost any game on this list if you have at least three friends that are willing to play with you. However, if you only have one or two friends, you’re a bit limited. Betcha Can’t! and I Wish I Didn’t Know require at least three players, and Trivial Pursuit: Horror Ultimate Edition will do with two. If you have too many players, most games allow you to split into teams. That also speeds up the gameplay and makes it a bit easier!
Think about the format of the game; do you need a game board? If the board game element is very important to you, opt for a game with one, such as Trivial Pursuit: Horror Ultimate Edition or MTV: The Throwback Music Party Game. Many people prefer cards because of their mobility. The benefit of card games is that you can take them with you anywhere you go.
Do you have a specific topic of interest or do you prefer general knowledge trivia? This time, the list is geared more towards different topics rather than general knowledge. This year is rich for music lovers, with games such as MTV: The Throwback Music Party Game and Choke on These Notes. Other niche topics include conspiracy theories and the horror genre. Some of the more general games on this list are I Wish I Didn’t Know and Betcha Can’t!
Consider the people you’ll be playing with. Let’s start with age! Some of the games on this list are not suitable for children. I’m talking about Trivial Pursuit: Horror Ultimate Edition, The Best of Christmas Game: Not for Kids, and I Wish I Didn’t Know specifically! These three should be kept away from kids due to their inappropriate content. Other games, like MTV: The Throwback Music Party Game, are not great for kids because they won’t know any of the answers. Some of the more kid-friendly games on this list include Bill & Ted’s Excellent Historical Trivia Travel Game and Betcha Can’t!
What’s the occasion? Do you want to have a cozy night in with the family and play a few rounds of trivia? Then Betcha Can’t! is an appropriate game for you. If you want to use a game to spice up your party, go for Blockbuster Returns or I Wish I Didn’t Know. If you’re looking to sit down with a close group of friends and play a serious game, you can choose one with a game board, like Trivial Pursuit: Ultimate Horror Edition.

Finally, what’s the desired difficulty of the game? Real trivia whizzes enjoy a challenge, but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy a bit mindless fun, too. The level of difficulty you will choose should depend on how knowledgeable you and other players are on the topic. Don’t go too hard just to show off your trivia knowledge. It’s no fun getting all the questions wrong, just as it is no fun to be the only one getting questions right!
Invalid table id.Here’s to a New Year of Trivia!
We created this list to show you that trivia doesn’t stand still. As we enter the new year, it’s up to you to decide which board games you want to keep and which you will toss to make space for new games. Once you’ve made that space, you have a lot to choose from and some important decisions to make!
Pick a game that will entertain you and your loved ones, challenge all players equally, and provide more fun times and laughs than any game ever before. Choose wisely and don’t limit yourself to just one pick. Remember, the goal is always to have fun and never to walk away angry or in tears (unless they’re tears from laughing too hard, of course).
