All experienced trivia lovers know about Trivia Crack, the popular mobile app not too dissimilar from the recently discontinued QuizUp (which you can read more about here!) and HQ Trivia. In other words, Trivia Crack is probably one of the first apps you think of when you hear the word “trivia.” And rightfully so, as Trivia Crack is among the first apps that come up when you type the word “trivia” in the search bar of the App Store!
Trivia Crack 2 is its lesser known relative that is still very successful on its own (though not our preferred Trivia Crack app of choice). But have you heard of Trivia Cars or Word Crack Mix 2? Etermax, the developer behind Trivia Crack, didn’t stop at the famous app. A few other games sprouted from that enterprise. You might have never heard of some of them before! It’s time to change that. Join us in exploring the world of Trivia Crack!
Trivia Crack
Let’s start easy with Trivia Crack—an app that needs no introduction. The game has made a name for itself and the whole brand. Trivia Crack saw the light of day for the first time in 2013. In 2021, it continues to enjoy popularity in many countries.
The first thing you can immediately tell about the game is that it was modelled after the popular and successful board game Trivial Pursuit. Just like the board game, Trivia Crack has six general knowledge categories: Art, Science, Sports, Entertainment, Geography, and History. There is a special seventh category that features an icon of a crown. To play the game, you have to spin the wheel. You then answer a question in the category you land on. If you landed on the Crown, you get to pick any category.
Sooner or later you will land on the crown. All you have to do is answer three other questions correctly. Then, you can challenge your opponent for one of their tokens, or simply keep playing. If you choose to challenge your opponent, you will both get a series of the same six questions in the same category. The player who answers more questions correctly wins. You can lose one of your characters to your opponent or win one of theirs. Just like in Trivial Pursuit, the goal is to collect all six characters or tokens.
Trivia Crack never gets old because of the constant supply of new questions from players. You can submit your own questions too, or vote on others’ questions. Initially, that’s the thing that separated Trivia Crack from other trivia apps. The developer of Trivia Crack said that the game wouldn’t have become so successful if it wasn’t for players submitting their questions.
The app is available on Apple and Android devices and it is free. However, we all know what comes with free apps. Ads! The amount of ads in Trivia Crack is quite overwhelming. Right off the bat, if you are easily annoyed by ads, you should opt for the paid version. Yes, you can pay to get rid of ads and add power ups. The ads are annoying, but the app has to make money somehow, right?
Trivia Crack 2
Trivia Crack 2 is the famous relative of Trivia Crack. If you’ve ever played either game, you likely know about the other one. Trivia Crack 2 came out in 2018 and has been almost as successful as its famous predecessor. The developers really took criticism seriously and decided to make some changes. Let’s start with the biggest criticism of Trivia Crack—the ads!
As you know, free apps usually come with ads. Unfortunately, there are not too many ways for developers to make money on free apps without ads. In Trivia Crack 2, players don’t get overwhelmed with ads right away. The app gives you a few games before ads start popping up after every game. Just like with Trivia Crack, you can pay to get rid of ads and buy power ups.
The actual game is very similar to the original Trivia Crack. The categories are the same, but there are some added features. There are three play modes that you will never get bored of. Tower Duel is the new and interesting one, where you get to play against one opponent in every category. Answer questions until you get one wrong and move on to the next category. The one with the most winning categories takes the crown.
Daily Challenge motivates players to keep coming back to the app. You are invited to “achieve winning streaks” by logging into the app and playing games as often as possible. Finally, the Classic mode. That one is pretty standard. Play against a random opponent and collect all six characters to win.
Trivia Crack 2 has another new feature that’s called Teams. You can join an existing team or create a new team. One team can have up to 50 people. Within your team, you can exchange lives and play games in categories of your own choosing.
Another interesting feature unique to Trivia Crack 2, is the ability to “upgrade” to a VIP Membership that has less ads and unlimited lives!
This Trivia Crack spinoff is almost as successful as the original app, and for good reason! The abundance of play modes and features really make up for the annoying ads. With all these new games, you’re never going to get bored of Trivia Crack 2.
Trivia Crack Adventure
Trivia Crack Adventure is the newest of the Trivia Crack series, launched in 2021. To sum it up, it is basically Trivia Crack in a new packaging, with board game elements and unique power-ups. Once again, players have to answer questions correctly to proceed in the game and win. Players are invited to open the app every day to receive their daily reward. Thus, you never really stop playing.
Since the word “adventure” is in the name, you have to expect some kind of plot. Unlike Trivia Crack and Trivia Crack 2, this game has one! You have to do everything in your power to reach the crown before your evil opponent. The way you do it is by answering trivia questions, of course.
As with other Trivia Crack games, ads are a major issue. Users report that the ads often deter them from coming back to the app and playing. Once again, what can you expect from a free app, right? Since the game is still pretty new, there are some bugs and the developers are working on improving the overall user experience. It’s too early to say where this game will go and whether it will bypass its predecessors. At the moment, it has predominantly positive reviews on both Google Play and in the App Store. Trivia Crack Adventure looks promising!

Triviatopia Run
Triviatopia Run is quite different from the other Trivia Crack apps on this list. In fact, it’s more in line with Subway Surfers and Temple Run. As you could’ve guessed, it’s a game where you have to jump over obstacles as your speed of running continues to increase. It’s a fun game, though there really is no trivia aspect to it. The only reason the game has the word “trivia” in the title is because it’s under the same brand name as Trivia Crack.
The rating kind of falls in the middle, with more positive reviews than negative ones. Triviatopia Run is unoriginal at worst and a solid arcade game at best. If you want to support the Trivia Crack brand, give it a chance! As it goes with Trivia Crack games, this one is free and has ads after every game. At this point, this should come as no surprise. The game is relatively new, as it only came out in 2020, so we’re still waiting to see where it takes us!
Trivia Cars
Trivia Cars is another relatively new game released by Etermax. Unlike Triviatopia Run, Trivia Cars is actually a trivia game. The game is presented in the form of a race; it’s you against random opponents. Challenge players in real time and see who can get to the finish line first. If you answer incorrectly, you crash your car.
Much like Trivia Crack, Trivia Cars relies heavily on user generated questions. Luckily, you’ll never have to answer the same question twice. Practice answering questions in solo player modes before you are ready to take on your opponents. The Loop, Infinite Rush, and Brain Breaker are some examples of play modes you can enjoy.
The point of the game is not just to have fun and beat your opponents in trivia games, but to improve your ranking and climb the leaderboard ladder. Players are encouraged to keep track of their performance and how they measure up against each other. Ultimately, the leaderboard keeps players coming back for more. You want to see your name at the top!
The game has predominantly good reviews, though ads continue to be an issue. The problem is that you can’t pay to remove ads like in Trivia Crack. You have to sit through them. Players easily get bored and frustrated. It’s important to note that the game doesn’t give you second chances. You answer one question wrong, you’re out of the race. It would’ve been better if wrong answers slowed you down instead of crashing your car completely.
As the game is relatively new, users say that it crashes sometimes. Nothing crazy, but it can get quite annoying. Overall, this is a great substitute for Trivia Crack if you got bored of it and want to try your hand at a new trivia game. However, if you’re bothered by ads that you can’t remove, stick with Trivia Crack!
Topic Twister: A Trivia Crack Game
Topic Twister is another one of the newer games released by Etermax. This game does not have an explicit trivia element, though it follows the design of Trivia Crack. Players are invited to spin the twister to get a letter. Then, you have 60 seconds to find a word starting with your letter for each of the five categories. It’s really not hard!
Even though there is no trivia element, the game makes you think. You can improve your vocabulary while playing against friends and strangers. The ratings are not too high and many users believe that the game has not reached its peak yet. For instance, some categories are too broad, like “tools” and “objects.” Many logical words are still not accepted for certain categories. The app has a lot of work to do regarding user experience.
Still, the game looks promising. Users admit that Topic Twister is still quite new and could benefit from a better range of categories. If it’s anything like Trivia Crack with user submissions, it will soon become less repetitive and more exciting! Plus, it’s worth noting that the ads in this game are not as aggressive as in others mentioned on this list.
Word Crack Mix 2
Word Crack Mix 2 is another one of the more random games from the Trivia Crack brand that are not actually trivia related. This is a classic vocabulary game. Players are asked to create words by connecting letters on the board in any way they can. You can imagine how that could get boring really quickly, right? To fight that, each game is divided into three rounds of two minutes each. Plus, you’re playing against someone else. That forces you to think fast and be better than your opponent.
After reading the reviews, I could grasp that Word Crack Mix 2 is not the first game of its kind (hence the “2” in the name). Many players were disappointed that they were automatically upgraded to Word Crack Mix 2. They lost all of their ratings and high scores through the update. I can’t tell if it’s the nostalgia talking, but many players admit to liking the old version better.
If you have no prejudice towards this version of the game, I suggest you try it! And if you belong to the group of people complaining about losing all of your high scores, well, I’d be upset too!
Words & Ladders: A Trivia Crack Game
Words & Ladders follow the classic gameplay popularized by Snakes & Ladders. In this game, ladders help you get up and slides set you back as you move across the virtual board. Words & Ladders has a slight trivia element, though it’s not a traditional trivia game. In this game, players have to solve riddles! That should really take you back to your childhood years and give your mind a break, while also exercising it at the same time.
The game offers a good mix of challenging and simple riddles, leaning more towards the simple side. Not everyone enjoys that though, as some of the riddles are way too childish for adults. If you want to give your mind a rest, go ahead and give this game a chance! Alternatively, you can use it as a learning prop for your kids.
The ads haven’t gone anywhere! The app is free and comes with a ton of ads. Expect an ad after every game.
Trivia Crack Kingdoms
Trivia Crack Kingdoms was once a popular trivia app, complete with its own cast of characters, until it wasn’t. Its sudden disappearance is shrouded in mystery to this day. Not even reddit users have come up with a theory about where the app went. Some say it’s only available in the UK now, though it’s not exactly certain where they got that assumption from. Either way, Trivia Crack Kingdoms is no longer available in the App Store or Google Play and it will be missed. Luckily, there are about a dozen of other Trivia Crack games that have come to replace it.
