If you’ve ever dabbled in the world of online trivia, you’ve definitely come across the Trivia Crack mobile application. Trivia Crack is a largely successful trivia app that many people enjoy. In fact, it is one of the most well-known in its category.
The app offers solo and live multiplayer games. There are different modes that all allow you to answer trivia questions in different categories, earn points, and climb up the leaderboard ladder. Everybody knows the app, and if you didn’t know it before, then you know it now. But what about the Trivia Crack board game?
Believe it or not, it exists! Or should I say existed? We are here to tell you everything you need to know about the official board game from Trivia Crack.
What is the Trivia Crack Board Game?
The Trivia Crack board game came out in 2015. The game was fully based on the popular app, so you can imagine what it looked like. There were six categories, including US History, Sports, Science, Geography, Art, and Entertainment. The game set came with a board, two dice, six pawns, 600 questions, and power up cards.
The game board resembled the app visually, and the gameplay was very similar, too. The first player starts by spinning the built-in spinner, which then lands on a category. The player attempts to answer a question in that category.
If answered correctly, the player can have a go at another one. Reaching a Crown space or landing on a Crown with the spinner gives players the opportunity to earn a character token from the selected category. Answer correctly to receive the token and move back to the beginning space. Be the first one to collect all six tokens to win.
The board game is almost exactly the same as the app, but you play with physical cards and a game board. Does it remind you of anything else? Collect six tokens in six different categories? That’s right, Trivial Pursuit!
Though the game is actually quite similar, it’s also different in the sense that it’s not really a board game. You don’t need to advance on the board or reach a certain number of points. Just answer questions and collect tokens; that’s all there is to it.
The game’s disappearance off the metaphorical Amazon shelves is still shrouded in mystery. The product is not available on Amazon and has no reviews, but the page is still there. Looking online won’t get you far in uncovering this mystery. There is not as much as a mention of it anywhere.
One of the few public reviews the game received described Trivia Crack as lame and unoriginal. The player said that small kids seemed to enjoy it, but it was not intellectual enough for adults. If you want a quality trivia board game, you should stick to Trivial Pursuit.
Where Can I Actually Buy the Game?
You won’t find the game in your local Walmart or Target. Trivia Crack is sold out on all platforms, including Amazon. You can contact sellers on eBay that would be willing to give it up for a pretty penny. This seller, for example, describes the game as “rare.” Judging by that, it won’t be easy to get your hands on it.
Interestingly enough, you can find Trivia Crack and its spin offs on an Argentinian website titled ToyCo. The game is called “Preguntados” and you can get the Familiar, Expertos, or 2 Edition. It seems as though the game really stuck there, since you can’t find it anywhere in the US. If you speak Spanish fluently and are really keen on playing Trivia Crack in real life, you can purchase it on ToyCo!
If you want my advice, it’s not worth it! Unless you’re a massive fan of the Trivia Crack app, don’t fall for it. The game is not worth your effort. You will get better value for money with a good-old Trivial Pursuit or Wit’s End.
When Will the Trivia Crack Game Be Back in Stock on Amazon?
My guess is probably never. The game was an Amazon exclusive, but Amazon doesn’t sell it anymore. The game’s page is still on the Canadian website though, so there is hope! Neither Amazon nor Trivia Crack has released any news regarding the board game. Believe that if the board game ever makes a comeback, you’ll be the first ones to know about it!
