For a long time, trivia has been viewed predominantly in the domain of board games, like Trivial Pursuit, and pub quizzes. A few years ago, the genre has adjusted to the rise of technology and many developers caught on. Massively successful games like QuizUp (that is, unfortunately, no longer with us) and Trivia Crack started to sprout. A game genre that was once meant for gatherings and groups of people suddenly became accessible to solo players and people who weren’t looking for any interaction.
Somewhere along those lines, people discovered their passion for playing with friends again. But, this time, in the digital realm. Nobody wanted to play boring board games anymore; digitalization was in, but make it social. Much like social media, trivia game apps began to offer the social element along with the game. Somewhere among all of that trivia PC games came to life. How is a PC game better than a phone app? Can you challenge your friends to trivia competitions through a trivia computer game? Are the questions worth the money? Let’s look at some of the best trivia games for PC and find out.

There are over 25 characters and their lives are in your hands. Your wrong answers can result in their deaths.
You can explore over 50 different storylines within the game. If you don’t find regular trivia games interesting, this interactive spin on trivia might be the right thing for you. The game features over 1000 questions in 4 question categories: video games, cinema, animation, and miscellaneous. You can decide how often you want to see questions from a certain category.
The game is packed with awesome questions about pop culture. Players often compliment the graphics and overall feel of the game. It is whimsical and funny with a twist on traditional trivia. Each storyline is quite quick to get through, provided you can answer the questions quickly.

Imagine, you wake up and find yourself captured by a serial killer who is obsessed with trivia. Now, to free yourself from his grip, you have to answer his trivia questions. The game doesn’t end there! You can keep playing as a ghost.
The design of the game is what sets it apart from all the others. It is certainly a fan favorite. I mean, how could you dislike these graphics? One game can accommodate up to 8 players at a time. A game can last between 15 and 20 minutes. It is far from family friendly, so keep your children away from the screen when you play.
Cinemoji: Halloween
Rating: 9/10
Link: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1791460/Cinemoji_Halloween/
A game from the Cinemoji series, Halloween focuses on horror movies. If you are familiar with the genre, you will love Cinemoji: Halloween. It is best enjoyed in October, naturally. Each level provides one or multiple emojis that are used to describe a certain horror film. You then have to rearrange the letters you’re given to form the name of the movie. It sounds easy, but it’s a lot more difficult than you think. As you progress in the game, the levels get harder, and you won’t get by without asking for help on occasion.
The game features some well-known motion pictures, as well as very obscure films. You will find everything from famous cult classics to movies that are practically unheard of. There are many levels, with each providing additional information about the movies in question. The game is enhanced by its pleasant and fitting soundtrack. You won’t leave the game without adding new movies to your watch list. Though this is not one of those free trivia games for PC, it is very affordable.
Who Wants to Be a Millionaire
Rating: 9/10
Link: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1356240/Who_Wants_To_Be_A_Millionaire/
Inspired by the iconic game show, Who Wants to Be a Millionaire gives players the opportunity to be a contestant on stage. Even though the stage is virtual, the questions are very real. There are 15 trivia questions that you need to answer to win. Each question is more difficult than the previous. Much like in the original game show, you can pick a lifeline or decide to take your winnings as they are and withdraw from the game altogether. There are over 3,000 questions in this game mode.
The game doesn’t end there! There are other game modes with their own dedicated question packs. For starters, there is a question pack for each of the six countries represented in the game. You can gain access to new question packs by playing the game and collecting points. Practice for the final quiz, improve your trivia knowledge, and collect points while you’re at it.
The game features other modes too. Family mode, for example, was developed specifically for families with kids who would like to join in on the fun. Battle Royale allows you to compete against 99 other players online. In this mode, the last one left standing is the winner of the game. Cooperative mode invites you to team up with 3 other players and answer questions together for a better chance of winning. Free-For-All is a never-ending game where you keep on answering questions until you get one wrong. Taking Turns lets you compete with a maximum of 9 other players where you take turns with the controller.
Cinemoji: Oscar
Rating: 8/10
Link: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1592370/Cinemoji_Oscar/
This game is quite different from the rest in its theme and gameplay. For starters, the game only focuses on cinema. Specifically, Oscar-winning films. You have to guess the name of the movie by just the emojis on the screen and the suggested letters. For instance, if you see an emoji showing a shark, the movie you’re trying to guess might be Jaws. Don’t let this description trick you, it’s harder than you think!
The game tells you how many Oscars the picture has won and gives you a short description of the movie’s plot before moving on to the next question. There are many levels that will take you a while to go through. If you like watching movies and are looking for a way to add new films to your watch list, check out Cinemoji.

Rating: 8/10

Cinemoji: Series is a trivia game focused on popular (and not so popular) television shows. In the game, you are shown one or multiple emojis that are meant to describe a certain series. Then, you have to spell out the name of the series using the letters given to you. It’s like hangman, but you should have a better idea of what you’re trying to spell out. Provided, of course, you know your TV shows!
The game is filled with cool new TV series titles that you’re going to want to watch after learning about them. The gameplay is very simple and the game itself is quite interesting. There are many levels that will take you a while to discover. Overall, the fast-paced nature of the game makes it very captivating and rewarding. It’s not trivia in the traditional sense, but rather a puzzle for all TV series lovers.

It’s Quiz Time is a computer game that features over 30,000 questions that span across over 100 categories. What makes this game so special is the categories. Salli is an AI robot that will encourage you to play and make the competition even more exciting.
Because there are so many different categories, anyone can play. It doesn’t matter if you’re 12, 22, or 62; you will find something that interests you. To add to the interactive nature of the game, the developers have allowed players to use their smartphones while playing. You can hide your answers from your opponents and attach selfies to your answers.
Trivia Tricks
Rating: 7/10
Link: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1404090/Trivia_Tricks/
In Trivia Tricks, you can choose if you want to play online multiplayer or challenge your friends and family. You can enjoy multiplayer games with up to 8 players at a time and local games with up to 4 players. You can also indulge in solo play against bots.
The game takes pride in being very customizable, providing a unique gaming experience to each player. You can change the features of each match, choosing which question categories you’d like to keep, how many bots you’d like to play against, and how many bonus points you can earn. You can also add a Chance Round, which will either help you gain extra points and shoot to the top or lose everything you’ve won up until that point.
There are 13 different categories in the game that cover many areas of knowledge. There is a large amount of questions. The questions tend to be on the shorter side, which is a good thing. Some are simple at first glance, but turn out to be trick questions. You can even suggest your own questions to the developers through Discord, if you’re brave enough!
Trivia Night
Rating: 5/10
Link: https://store.steampowered.com/app/628570/Trivia_Night/
Trivia Night is a classic trivia game that you can play alone or with friends. There are different game modes that you can switch between, including Normal Trivia, Fun with Flags, and True or False. The different modes help to keep the game entertaining even after you’ve tried everything. Keep track of time when you’re answering questions, as there is a timer.
The design of the game is reminiscent of the aesthetic of the 1980s. The game still has a long way to go and lots of room to grow. It needs more questions and an occasional proofreading. Most of the questions are not too challenging, which can be quite upsetting to hardcore trivia fans. It is a great game for the price, which is less than a dollar, so let’s hope the developers continue to work on it.
Final Words
Even though there are plenty of great free games, the price is usually a good indicator of quality. In our case, the price is telling of the game’s complexity. Thus, the more expensive games provide complex gameplay with elements of storytelling, bonus points, and other great features. On the other hand, the cheaper games are more suitable for players looking to take their minds off work and just relax for half an hour or so.
Don’t let this judgment discourage you from picking any game on this list! All the PC games mentioned here are worth your attention. Have you tried any of them already? Share your experience with us in the comments!
