4 Trivia Apps Where You Can Win Real Money

We’ve spoken about online trivia contests and competitions, as well as the rise and fall of HQ Trivia, the infamous trivia app. Unfortunately, you can’t really make money on HQ Trivia anymore, so let’s talk about all the current trivia apps that give their players the chance to win real money. That’s right, you can win money playing virtual trivia!

Before we get into it, there are some things worth mentioning. As the HQ Trivia example showed, nothing good lasts long. In other words, don’t expect to download these apps and make a living by playing trivia games. You can make a couple bucks at most, the prizes rarely exceed that. If you don’t enjoy trivia, the money won’t make up for it!

HQ Trivia

HQ Trivia has been through its ups and downs. Once the most popular live trivia app, the game started losing popularity a few years ago. The CEO announced that the game would be canceled, until it was suddenly revived. The circumstances of its revival are shrouded in mystery, but we’re here for it!

You can play the game every day. There is a daily quiz with 12 multiple-choice questions. In order to win a cash prize, you have to answer all 12 questions correctly. The difficulty level increases with every question. Even though the questions are not too difficult overall, getting all of them right is quite hard.

Back in the day, the cash prizes used to be decent. That was until bots ruined the game by providing correct answers to players. Since all the winners get to split the cash prize among themselves, people started ending up with less than a dollar in overall winnings. Because of that, you can’t win much anymore. Don’t expect more than a few bucks.

Available on Android and iOS

Swagbucks LIVE

Swagbucks LIVE is one of the most “legit” trivia apps where you can play live trivia games for money. The app is backed up by a large parent company, so you can trust that you won’t get scammed. Once you download the app, you get an opportunity to win money every single day. Swagbucks LIVE releases daily live quizzes with 10 questions in each. Much like in HQ Trivia, if you answer all correctly, you get to split the cash prize with other winners. The prize can be redeemed on the app’s website.

Even if you don’t manage to answer all the questions correctly, you can earn some SwagBucks to keep you motivated. With enough SB, you can buy your way back into the game once you’ve been eliminated. Overall, Swagbucks LIVE is a great choice for those who are looking for something similar to HQ Trivia.

Available on Android and iOS

Givling

Givling is both similar to and different from HQ Trivia and Swagbucks LIVE. In Givling, you are automatically assigned to a team of three people. From that moment on, you’re playing with strangers. Your goal is to answer trivia questions as accurately as possible. The questions are all true or false. You get to answer questions until you answer incorrectly or run out of time. Then, the team that scored the highest gets to split a cash prize. With two daily games, you have many chances to win.

This is where the game gets fun. When you play, you can get in the Queue and earn Queue Points. If you get to the top of the Queue, Givling will pay off some of your mortgage debt or student loans. Getting to the top is not easy, as there are many people playing at the same time. However, if you do get to the top, it’s a very nice bonus for playing the game.

Besides, regular trivia games are not the only way to win cash on Givling. There are special offers and jackpots that you can participate in. The app is cool all around. If you’re looking to take a break from your regular trivia apps, this is a great option!

Likewise, if you enjoy playing trivia with a group of people—check out our full list of similar apps!

Available on Android and iOS

Dabbl

Dabbl is not exactly a trivia app. It’s an app where you can complete small tasks for small rewards. Answering trivia questions is one of them. You can also watch videos and participate in surveys. If you are looking to make some money using an app on your phone, this app is probably the most realistic option. Besides, you can withdraw your winnings starting at $5, which is quite low compared to other apps.

The app also offers gift cards to winners. Redeem gift cards from Walmart, Starbucks, Amazon, and others. This is a great app for those who don’t mind watching videos and participating in surveys on top of playing trivia games.

Apps to Stay Away From

You already know that it’s not all fun and games, even when you’re just playing games on your phone. It’s easy to get scammed. When you’re expecting money from an app, your expectations won’t always be fulfilled. Not every app that promises money to winners actually goes through with it. Here are some trivia apps that you should avoid (if you want to get paid, that is).

The Q

The players say that the game used to be fun, but quickly turned into a worse version of HQ Trivia with bugs and no payout. The app has been getting poor reviews since 2018 and nothing’s changed. Many players never received their payouts. Even though some elements of the game are fun, it’s mostly just too buggy. Besides, you’re lucky if you get one game a week. If you don’t like the sound of that, skip this one.

CashQuiz – Live Game Show

This game has predominantly negative reviews. Players recommend avoiding this game and call it a waste of time. One of the major problems is that the game doesn’t even load, so you don’t actually get to play. Another issue people have been speaking on is that the app keeps requesting an update even long after the last update has been installed.

HOFr

HOFr is actually not the worst! Back in the day, the game was well-respected and enjoyed by many. To this day, you will find many positive reviews on its Google Play page. However, the game has gone downhill in the past year. Users have reported that it’s quite obvious that the creators of the app are trying to save money. Every change they make is to cut costs. Smaller prizes, no hosts, shadow banning users, and changing rules as they go. HOFr is not as bad as the others, but the latest reviews are quite concerning. Give this game a try if you’d like, but there are better games on this list!

Societi

Societi is another app that was very good until recently. If you check the reviews on Google Play, many claim that they used to love the app and it hurts them to give it such a low rating. At the moment, the problem is that the app hasn’t been updated in a while. Users haven’t been able to cash out with their winnings. What good is it if you can’t even receive the money you’ve won, right?

“You Have to Play to Win, But You Also Have to Win to Play”

These four apps are the most reliable live trivia apps out there. If you’re looking for a quiz game that actually offers real cash prizes, you can’t go wrong with these. If you look for live trivia apps online, you’ll find many others. We mentioned HOFr, Societi, and others as examples of games you should avoid. The problem with them is that players haven’t gotten their payouts in quite some time. Be cautious if you choose to invest your time in these!

Though it’s fun to play and you shouldn’t focus on the money you can win, you should also stay away from scammers. Don’t expect to win big with trivia apps, but don’t waste your time playing a game that will end up locking you out or offer no return. Most importantly, remember that it’s all in good fun! If you enjoy trivia, you can enjoy these trivia apps, plus a few more with some chances to win real-world prizes. And if you’re not as concerned about the money-making part, here are a few more trivia apps worth checking out! (And even more here!) And check out our full review of Trivia Crack Payday!
