It seems that Gen Z is all the rage these days. Gen Z influencers, actors, singers, artists, TikTokers, movies, songs, clothes, and so much more exist. Every industry caters to the generation of people born between 1997 and 2013. Because Gen Z-ers are some of the greatest consumers on the market right now, there are a whole lot of products and services tailor-made for them.
Whether you’re a member of that generation yourself, the mother of a Gen Z child, or just desperately trying to fit in, you can use this article to gain some knowledge or put what you already know to the test. We’ve compiled a list of Gen Z trivia games that will make you laugh and cry (only if you lose). Though we’ve tried to incorporate board games, today’s teenagers grow up with smartphones and tablets in their hands. It’s hard to disregard their digital education, which created so many awesome online quizzes and apps!
In my opinion, Mind the Gap seems like the best option for both Gen Z players and those who want to learn more about Generation Z. It is a real trivia board game, which are so rare these days! It has a social element that online quizzes and game apps lack. Mind the Gap encourages you to get together with your family and have good, old-fashioned fun without devices.

Gen Z Quiz
Gen Z Quiz is a trivia game app available on Android devices through Google Play. The game shows you pictures of Gen Z celebrities, and you have to guess their names. The game is straightforward, which makes it better suited to a younger audience. Interestingly, members of other generations might have a really hard time playing Gen Z Quiz. You won’t get any questions right if you know what Zendaya, Logan Paul, and Addison Rae look like. This game will be especially interesting to the teens who spend much of their time on TikTok.
Trivia Star
Trivia Star is an app that’s available for Android and Apple devices. The app is currently number two in the Trivia category in the App Store. The game is optimized for smartphones and tablets. The best part is—that it’s free. Trivia Star has a lively and colorful design that will be especially attractive to the younger members of Gen Z.
The game has over 1000 levels with over 10,000 trivia questions, so you’ll be occupied for hours daily! The questions start easy, but they get more challenging as you level up in the game. Question categories include general knowledge, celebrities, sports, food, music, TV shows, movies, science, and brands, just to name a few. Players are invited to earn coins through the game and use them if they need help with a question. Trivia Star can be played online and offline.
Trivia Star is a classic trivia game app; we’ve seen many of them. It differs from the others with its content, which targets the younger generation. Questions about current celebrities, TV shows, and sports superstars are written for Gen Z. Don’t get discouraged when you’re met with questions that are too easy. Get them right, and you’ll reach the difficult questions quickly.
Psych! Outwit Your Friends
Psych is a trivia game app from the creators of the famous app Heads Up! The game invites players to make up outrageous fake answers to real questions. Psych targets friend groups who enjoy trivia. But, being skilled and knowledgeable is not enough! You have to know your friends really well too.
In order to start playing with your friends, you need to select a category. The game will invite you to give an incorrect answer to a question, which will then be displayed to your friends along with the right answer. Your goal is to convince your friends to select your answer as the right one. The questions are multiple-choice, so you and your friends get four potential answers to select from. You get points when other players choose your answer. You also get points for selecting the correct answer and not letting your friends psych you.
If you’re up for the challenge, you can add Ellen to your game and try not to let her confuse you. Psych can be very fun if you know your friends well enough to come up with fake answers they would fall for. And, if you want to win, you need to outsmart them all! The game is available on Google Play and in the App Store.

Mind the Gap

Mind the Gap is a trivia board game that will unite the whole family. Boomers, Gen X-ers, Millennials, and Gen Z-ers unite to answer trivia questions and show who knows the other generations better. You need at least two players to play. The number of players can reach 20. With more than four players, the players need to be separated into four teams. The average duration of one game is between 20 minutes and one hour. The game is for sale on Amazon.
The board is divided into four sections, each generation’s own section. Each generation also has pop culture trivia questions that players must answer. Before you start, you need to place a stack of Challenge Cards in the middle. The game has a mix of trivia and activities that make players sing, dance, and act. As you or your team moves around the board, you must answer trivia questions or participate in challenges. The goal is to be the first player or team to make a full round around the board.
The categories covered by the trivia questions are tv/film, pop culture, music, headlines, and slang/slogans. According to some players of
- Great for the ENTIRE family - Grandma to 10 yr olds
- Pop Culture trivia questions that are fun to answer
- Challenge cards make you hum, dance, and act out iconic moments from the different generations
- Supports up to 4 teams of multiple players
- Great for holidays, game nights, office parties, get togethers, reunions, funerals... okay, not funerals.
Millennials v. Zoomers Trivia Game
Millennials v. Zoomers is a small game that consists of 200 question cards. One pack has questions concerning pop culture of the 80s and 90s, and the other one targets the early 2000s. Expect categories like music, technology, trends, and slang. As a Gen Z, you can challenge your millennial friends to a face-off in Gen Z knowledge. Alternatively, both players or teams can stick to their categories and see who knows their own generation better. The cards feature answers, so you cannot read your own questions. Some answers come with a short explanation, making for a great learning tool.
Millennials v. Zoomers is hardly a trivia game; it’s just a collection of question cards. However, it can make an excellent companion on a road trip, camping getaway, or even during airplane travel. You can use the questions in upcoming trivia quizzes or impress your friends with your newfound knowledge. The pack costs less than $20. It is quite small, so it will only last a few games.

Honorable Mention: What Do You Meme

Millennials started the meme game, and Gen Z took it to the next level. No other generation has such a strong knowledge of memes and an influence on the creation of new memes. Gen Z slang took memes from entertainment that can only be consumed through a screen to a live performance. TikTok has been the founding platform for many successful memes.
What Do You Meme is a party card game meant for adults. It is not suitable for the younger members of Gen Z, as there is a lot of adult language and topics. The game’s creators have been so successful that they created more games on different topics. Though they’re all great, let’s focus on the original What Do You Meme.
The game is similar to Cards Against Humanity. The card that prompts the players’ responses, the centerpiece if you will, is a meme. Each player has a set of cards they can choose from every round. Your goal is to find every meme’s funniest and most relatable caption. As with Cards Against Humanity, the beauty of this game lies in its social element. Only you can make your friends laugh with the hilarious captions you choose. Not everyone will find the winning caption funny, but your friends will.
The original What Do You Meme has 360 caption cards and 75 picture cards. You will probably run through them pretty quickly. The creators also sell expansion packs that will keep the game interesting for longer. Though it’s not exactly a trivia game, there is no other game that does a better job of encapsulating the Gen Z experience!

- Judge’s Choice: The winner of each round is decided by a rotating judge; Pro tip: pick your caption card to match the judge’s sense of humor
